CONSERVATION REPAIR

Perpendicular Gothic style building of the 19th Century, St Andrew's has highly decorative carved parapets containing pinnacles and stone carvings.

The poor condition of the North Aisle pinnacles was identified in the quinquennial inspection and a project of repair was completed in 2024.

I
SCHEDULE OF REPAIRS

Working with a specialist stonemason, a programme of stone replacement and mortar repair was carefully scheduled by the architect, to maintain as much original stone as possible, whilst ensuring the structural stability and longevity of the decorative stonework.

The work required the careful removal of ferrous metal and replacement with stainless steel, where metal supports were necessary. All new stones were geologically similar to the original and bed using lime mortars.
