CONSERVATION REPAIR
St Albans Cathedral stands on one of the oldest continuous Christian worship sites in Britain, dating back over 1700 years, with two medieval shrines, attracting over 600,000 visitors every year.
As Cathedral Architect, Emma is responsible for advising the Cathedral Chapter on all fabric matters pertaining to the ancient Cathedral site.

HISTORIC NARATIVE
The Cathedral has a layered architectural history, reflecting over 1,000 years of development and change. The Tower is the oldest of any English Cathedral, built in the 11th Century of Roman bricks from the nearby city of Verulamium.
The Cathedral has the longest Nave of any Cathedral in England (85 metres) and a variety of architectural styles and dates, including early English Gothic, and major Victorian restorations by Lord Grimthorpe, including the west front.
